Spirited filly set for Wanganui feature Lightly-tried filly Secret Spirit is on target for a hat-trick of black type victories. The winner of two of her five outings last season, she will travel south this Saturday to make her three-year-old debut in the Listed O’Leary’s Fillies’ Stakes. “She’ll run at Wanganui and she certainly hasn’t gone backwards since she last raced,” said Lance O’Sullivan, who trains Secret Spirit with Andrew Scott. Secret Spirit ended her autumn preparation with consecutive wins at Listed level in the Great Northern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie and in the Ryder Stakes at Otaki. “She’s not very big, but she tries hard and she likes her races well-spaced,” O’Sullivan said.- NZR

Mr Conductor won at his second start at Awapuni as a two-year-old and he was turned out after finishing fourth in the Listed Castletown Stakes. He has had trial outings at Foxton and Taupo to ready him for this weekend’s test. “He still does a bit wrong, but he’s a talented horse with any amount of ability and he’s already showed he can get around
